New Mexicans, for the most part, have embraced the Film/TV and Entertainment industry with open arms. This industry has provided opportunities and income to hundreds, perhaps thousands of New Mexicans, with an economic impact of multiple millions of dollars for New Mexicans in and out of the industry. From waitresses to florists, boutique owners, hotel workers and car rental employees — the list goes on and on of those impacted by the Film/TV and related industries. As for those actually working on productions, many are making wages established by their unions. But a large marjority of workers are doing jobs at a minimum wage and that mimimum needs to be addressed and increased. Film/TV/Entertainment is a growth industry that can and will provide eco-friendly job opportunities for thousands of New Mexicans of all ethnicities and backgrounds. With thoughtful planning and the solid backing of our citizens and legislators, New Mexico can become the second Hollywood, bringing billions of revenue dollars to the state and its citizens.

Become a member of FEANM now and have a voice in the future of this exciting industry. Times are tough, use the FEANM LAY-AWAY-PLAN: FEANM needs a formidable number of members to be able to go to the governor or any legislator for their assistance. Due to the present economic conditions getting the member count we need to be effective is difficult. So, we are instituting a Lay-Away-Plan. Send in your completed application with just a $5.00 payment and you will be considered an active member. This is on the honor system so we expect a $5.00 payment every month until your dues and admin.fee are paid in full. If you get in under the 500 member count, you still receive the 50% discount. You’re still eligible for the $10.00 referral rebate, once your dues are paid in full.

A VOICE: After nearly losing the NM incentive program in January 2009, we, the people in the Film/TV/Entertainment and related industries, realized that we need a strong united voice. One that can address the issues clearly, with knowledge and authority. What this legislation challenge made very clear is that the workers in this industry need an organization — not just separate unions that have their own agendas. An organization that will be A VOICE. A Voice that will speak for everyone in the industry’s future. An organization with only one agenda: to improve and increase the Film/TV/Entertainment industry in New Mexico.

EDUCATE: To meet the challenge of increased job opportunities for NM citizens, the level of professionalism in New Mexico must be raised in all areas. The "C" level of "it's OK" average work will not be able to compete with or win out over "A" level, above average work coming out of California. To help raise the quality here in New Mexico, FEANM will be active in promoting education in all areas, above and below line. This can be achieved through our Community Outreach program.

COMMUNICATE: Along with the Board of Directors, FEANM will continue to create Advisory Board positions comprised of individuals who have expertise in various areas in the industry. In addition, a Watch Dog/Ad Hoc committee will be formed, comprised of the Board of Directors, Advisory Board members and other concerned industry members who have volunteered their time and expertise. This committe is being formed to address the many issues our industry has and will continue to have as it grows and expands. The Watch Dog committee will review all complaints made by members and suggest solutions to correct or address contentious issues. All complaints will be held in the strictest of confidence, and no matter what level, will be reviewed, addressed and answered by the Watch Dog committee. Click on the WTF link on the FEANM website home page to lodge a complaint, raise an issue or give a suggestion.

LEGISLATE: Another top priority of FEANM is to form a Legislation Committee, whose mandate will be to create new legislation for the improvement and betterment of the NM Film/TV/Entertainment industry. The goal is to have the Legislation Committee in place and ready to meet with legislators by fall 2009, before the upcoming legislative session in January 2010. Scams, illicit actions, pay-to-play, favoritism, blacklisting, blackballing and behind-closed-door actions must stop for this industry to grow successfully.

Let’s be very clear: FEANM is not another union. It is an association of like-minded individuals with one common goal — the betterment and advancement of the NM Film/TV and Entertainment industry. People who see wrongs and want to right them. People who look at our industry with pride and want to see it grow and expand. People who know where we were, where we are now and look to see where we want to be and say “why not.”

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: There will be a non-profit arm of FEANM called FEANM-CO, which stands for Community Outreach. It is all about giving back to the community. Community Outreach's mission will be to help bring resources to the general community of New Mexico. Whether you want to be an actor and walk that red carpet one day, or become a Director or Director of Photography, or any of the other hundreds of jobs available in the movie industry, Community Outreach will help jump start those goals right here in New Mexico. Community Outreach will help provide grants and scholarships for education, as well as support the NM community at large with other programs like helping with Horse Rescue organizations. In addition, as a thank you and a tribute to our brave Veterans, FEANM-Community Outreach will spearhead a Veterans Retrofit program for NM veterans. The Veteran Retrofit program will offer aid to returning amputee veterans to retrofit their homes to accommodate their injuries and make their lives easier.

OUR MISSION
FEANM is an association of film, TV and entertainment professionals, above and below the line, and industry friends banding together throughout the state, dedicated to the promotion and continued expansion of the film/TV/entertainment and related industries in New Mexico. We will strive to achieve legislation to better the industry for New Mexicans. We will try to provide relevant information and education in support of our mission. Through unity and open communication we will foster the highest professional standards, maintain industry integrity, and create ONE VOICE for our membership, for the overall good of the industry and the New Mexico community in general.
